the problem
South Africans looking for remote work spend hours on listings they were never eligible for. The “remote” in the title often means remote within the US, the EU or a single state, and that detail is buried in the description.
Every one of those is a wasted application, and a reason to give up on remote work altogether.

how it’s built
An eligibility filter that reads the fine print
Each listing is screened against about fifty named countries, all fifty US states and their postal codes, “remote in…” phrasing and region tags in job titles, while “worldwide” and “anywhere” roles are let through.
Thirteen sources, one shape
Remotive, Arbeitnow, We Work Remotely, Remote OK, Himalayas, Working Nomads, Jobspresso, Authentic Jobs, Jobicy, NoDesk, JSRemotely, Ruby on Remote and The Muse, via APIs and RSS, normalised into a single feed.
Fast because it’s cached
Listings are cached for six hours and warmed when the server starts, so pages load without waiting on thirteen other websites.
One small, secure service
A single Node process serves both the API and the site, behind rate limits, a short-lived token on the jobs API and a strict content security policy.
